Rick Lam is the co-founder and director of Architecture Commons. He received his BA (ArchStud) from HKU and his M Arch I from Harvard GSD. He has extensive work experience in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Boston, and New York on projects that span every scale from residential renovations to master planning, and these jobs have endowed him with keen aesthetics acumen, knowledge in dense urban operation, and social awareness across cultures. Rick was recently selected as one of the winners of the “40 Under 40” Award recognizing creative young talents, and the AIA Merit Awards 2017, among others. Since the founding of ACL, Rick has been working with the government, non-profits, NGOs and the private sector tackling a mixture of deep rooted social issues, from alienated youth, elderly care, environment, to health and education.

Architect, entrepreneur, and urban thinker passionate about architecture and urban environments that have a lasting impact on society, Eric Ho is the co-founder and Director of Architecture Commons, a design agency for urban innovation.

Eric studied architecture at University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University Graduate School of Design, where he was the recipient of the Faculty Design Award. In addition to his passion in architecture, Eric has started a civic start-up MILES: a real estate platform for neighborhood and community good through activating underused storefront spaces, and Good Goods: a next generation shared economy platform for retail.

Eric has been invited to speak at various panels and events including Harvard Innovation Lab, Northside Innovation, Columbia University Studio X and TEDxDumbo. He has served as the judge committee for Harvard University’s annual Dean’s Cultural Entrepreneurship Challenge. His work has been published in New York Times, Huffington Post, Fast Company, Good Magazine and PSFK.

Eric is currently also a faculty member at Parsons School of Design in New York and teaches design thinking and design strategy in their Global Executive Masters Program in Strategic Design and Management. He is also a part-time faculty at Chinese University of Hong Kong School of Architecture. In 2019, he started “Neighbourhood Innovation Lab” in 2019 to tackle how we might design human-centred cities, one neighbourhood at a time.

Jan is a Registered Architect (HKIA) with over 17 years of architectural experiences. He has been involved in various types of projects including commercial, hotels, retails, residential, passenger terminals and large-scale master planning projects in Hong Kong and PRC. He is particularly experienced in concept development, architectural planning and design, multi-discipline technical coordination, detailing, code compliance and statutory procedures, procurement strategy, construction documentation, contract administration, construction coordination, site supervision, programme and budget control.

His recent indicative project can be characterized by the AIRSIDE, which is a large-scale commercial development project in a CDA site and Jan was acting as the Lead Project Architect overlooking the overall execution of all stages. He was also involved in the VICTORIA DOCKSIDE, which he was acting as the Senior Resident Architect overlooking the site implementation. His involvement includes detail design and coordination, statutory submissions, documentation, procurement management, construction administration, site supervision, quality control and statutory inspections.
